[:pl]Jaga Jazzist powracają! Na swoim nowym albumie „Pyramid”, którego premiera zaplanowana jest na 24 kwietnia, legendarny norweski zespół zgłębia inspiracje post-rockiem, jazzem i psychodelią. Grupa zaprezentuje swój nowy materiał na żywo w Warszawie już w maju.
Nie sposób opisać niezliczonych wpływów i inspiracji muzycznych, które składają się na brzmienie Jaga Jazzist. Zawsze zwinnie unikali oni ścisłej kategoryzacji, jednak pozostają konsekwentni w jednym: ich brzmienie ciągle ewoluuje. Ich debiutanckie wydawnictwo, ”Grete Stitz” (1996), przyniosło im spore zainteresowanie rodzimych fanów, które zaowocowało ukazaniem się w 2001 roku kolejnej płyty, „A Livingroom Hush”, już pod parasolem wytwórni Ninja Tune. Dzięki tej współpracy Norwegowie wydali również „The Stix” (2002), a także zyskali międzynarodowy rozgłos. Po zmianie producenta i wydaniu w 2005 roku krążka „What We Must”, Jaga Jazzist zrobili sobie kilkuletnią przerwę od nagrywania. Z jeszcze większą mocą powrócili w 2009 roku, mocniej progresywnym i elektronicznym niż poprzednie wydawnictwem „One-Armed Bandit”. W 2013 roku zespół wydał zapis live koncertu we współpracy z brytyjską Britten Sinfonia w 35-cio osobowym składzie. Obecnie dyskografię norweskiej grupy zamyka „Starfire” z 2015 roku.
Teraz Jaga Jazzist zapowiedzieli swój nowy krążek, „Pyramid”, który ukaże się w kwietniu nakładem legendarnej wytwórni Brainfeeder. Pragnienie grupy, by ewoluować, eksperymentować i improwizować, pokrywa się z filozofią Brainfeedera, który sam w sobie jest światłem przewodnim muzycznej fuzji i hybrydyczności, i zapowiada początek nowego, ekscytującego rozdziału dla Jaga Jazzist.
Norwegowie zaprezentują się na żywo w warszawskim klubie Niebo 15 maja 2020. The group will demonstrate their new material in Warsaw in May.
It’s impossible to describe the myriad musical influences and inspirations that inform the sound of Jaga Jazzist without tumbling down a rabbit hole of genre confusion such is the sonic magnitude and diversity of the Norwegian supergroup’s compositions. The band has consistently confounded categorisation from its inception. However, the direction of travel has been obstinately consistent: moving forward… always moving forward.
The youngest of three siblings that began Jaga Jazzist in 1994 in the small town of Tønsburg when he was just 14, Lars Horntveth has gradually emerged as Jaga’s primary compositional voice. Lars, brother Martin and sister Line all demonstrated a strong-willed distaste for orthodoxy – an early reason why Jaga sounds unlike any other band in any scene. The band released their debut “Grete Stitz” in 1996, immediately grabbing the ears and eyes of musicians, producers and venue owners at the heart of Norway’s music scene. A career-defining moment for Jaga – already garnering a word-of-mouth reputation for exhilarating live performances – was signing with Ninja Tune in 2002. The label quickly reissued the band’s second longplayer “A Livingroom Hush” to international acclaim. Returning with “Stix” in 2002, “What We Must” (2005), “One Armed Bandit” (2009), an epic live album with Britten Sinfonia (2013) and a celebratory 20th anniversary compilation “’94-’14” in 2014, Jaga released their last studio album “Starfire” in 2015.
The group’s desire to evolve, experiment and improvise matches that of their new label home Brainfeeder, itself a beacon for musical fusion and hybridity, and heralds the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Jaga Jazzist.
