Unfortunately, the epidemiological situation does not allow us to organize the Young Guva concert in March and we are forced to postpone it. Of course, I’m in touch with the artist’s management and we are about to announce a new date for Guva’s solo concert in Poland! All purchased prices paid remain valid.

If you want to know who is behind the nickname Young GUV, think of the contemporary guitar music that’s meant something to you in the last 18 years. Ben Cook has probably had something to do with making it or influencing it. Think of No Warning, which he’s fronted since he was in high school in the ’90s, who pioneered a self-aware, intertextual, and technically adept style of New York hardcore that has became a subgenre unto itself, dominating scenes all over the world for close two decades and counting. Think of Fucked Up, for which he’s played guitar since 2006, the aesthetically omnivorous, thematically ambitious punk-rock-deconstructing band-like entity that, unlike the bulk of their contemporaries in the late-2000s festival-circuit indie-rock boom, no one is ashamed of having associated themselves with. Think also of his behind-the-scenes presence, the co-writing and production work he’s done for a host of artists at all levels of renown (some of the names would surprise you).

However, you will get to know his full potential under the umbrella of the Young Guv solo project. Young Guv’s songs are filled with guitars and harmonies that bring to mind the best times of Brit Pop music, sometimes you will find synths and modulated voices. What they all have in common is excellent lyrics where you will find cut jokes, intense human feelings and sharp contrasts.

Ben Cook does not like to talk about his music, but he once called it that way: “To me Young Guv songs are like people-watching in a foreign country in the morning,” he says, ever the master of the vivid metaphor. “I’m there and I’m trying not to cry from the overwhelming feeling of sadness and happiness.”

GUV I” and “GUV II” are a collection of great, catchy and poignant pop songs written and recorded by Ben during his summer in New York.

The artist’s latest single “Cold In The Summer” was released on August 16, 2020. Young Guv will play his first solo concert in Poland on March 21, at the Chmury club in Warsaw. Tickets for 49 PLN will be available from September 18th via fource.pl, GoOut.pl, Eventim.pl Biletomat.pl, Ticketmaster.pl, Going.pl and all Empik stores.
